The drive from Dumaguete airport to Malatapay takes around 35 minutes. The boat transfer from Malatapay to Apo Island also takes about 35 minutes. Liberty’s Lodge provides a full transfer service for 650 pesos per person ( 350 p. for airport pick up and 300 p. for the boat).
If you choose to make your own way, there is both a jeepney and a bus to Zamboquita ask to get off at Malatapay. Renting a banca boat at Malatapay can cost around 1500 pesos. If you are traveling from Cebu, further directions can be given.

The best way to support APO and the marine life...
...is to stay on APO in Libertys Lodge and utilize Pauls dive shop.
This brings jobs and income for APO.
This enables Liberty to continue her work on Marine protection and sanctuaries.
Protection means: paying fishermen not to fish in the sanctuary any more.
Insted: Giving them new jobs like guarding the sanctuary or work in the Lodge,
As the mother of the island she also pays for medical care for all APO people.
Hospital, doctors and medicine, since most of the APO people cant afford the cost.
Paying the youngs in the University. Und some construction in High school and
elementary.
If you book other diveshops outside APO ,
or Safari tours to APO for diving, you will not support APO .
You just scim off the work and engagement of the APO community.
APO needs divers to stay on the island.
These divers contribute to the protection of the marine life in such way,
that the money goes indirectly from Liberty to the
protection projects and to the APO people. |
